AVID
AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a year long elective class in grades 7-12. AVID is an international program that has been around for more than 35 years. Teachers are excited to work with our AVID students as they prepare for their future. AVID teaches students skills and behaviors needed for academic success. AVID students are taught success strategies and are supported through weekly tutorials that are facilitated by college students.
AVID students are introduced to many career fields through guest speakers. Every month, a speaker introduces aspects of his/her career and the journey taken to get to this point.
Students have attended college football games at the Rose Bowl and taken guided tours of various colleges, including Cal State Fullerton and Cal Poly Pomona. Many Clifton teachers have attended either summer institutes or LA County institutes, which benefit all of our students.
