Welcome

Welcome to Clifton Middle School

Clifton Middle School is a 2013 California Distinguished School, 2015 CBEE Honor Roll School, 2017 and 2019 National School to Watch, and 2017 Gold Ribbon School.  Located in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, Clifton serves the children from the ethnically diverse community of Monrovia.

Clifton's mission is to work in partnership with the community to provide students with diverse opportunities to develop intellectually, culturally, socially, and emotionally.  Through equal access to an interconnected and student-centered curriculum, each student is given the opportunity and responsibility to reach his or her maximum potential in preparation for high school.

Clifton is fortunate to have a variety of robust programs that include Renaissance, STEM, AVID, and Dual immersion to name a few. These programs place emphasis on the academic effort and achievements of students.  The goal is to provide a niche for all students as they develop and prepare for high school. Clifton has also implemented a campus-wide PBIS program to focus on positive behavior and to teach students expected behaviors without resorting to punitive measures.  This coincides with our Kindness Club and GSA club to foster a culture of acceptance, tolerance, and unity.  Finally, our teachers are doing a tremendous job implementing rigorous standards in all subject areas and placing emphasis on our three school-wide initiatives including productive student collaboration, C.U.B. writing, and Depth of Knowledge questioning.  For decades, Clifton has steadily built a culture of academic excellence.
