Welcome
Welcome to Clifton Middle School
Clifton Middle School is a 2013 California Distinguished School, 2015 CBEE Honor Roll School, 2017 and 2019 National School to Watch, 2017 Gold Ribbon School and recently re-designated as a National Schools To Watch by the California League of Educators. Located in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, Clifton serves the children from the ethnically diverse community of Monrovia.
Clifton's mission is to work in partnership with the community to provide students with diverse opportunities to develop intellectually, culturally, socially, and emotionally. Through equal access to an interconnected and student-centered curriculum, each student is given the opportunity and responsibility to reach his or her maximum potential in preparation for high school.
Clifton is fortunate to have a variety of robust programs that include Renaissance Leadership, STEM, AVID, and Dual immersion to name a few. These programs place emphasis on the academic effort and achievements of students. The goal is to provide a niche for all students as they develop and prepare for high school. Clifton has also implemented a campus-wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports program to focus on positive behavior and to teach students expected behaviors with a focus on incentives, student recognition and restorative practices. At Clifton we strive to offer something for everyone, with an array of involvement opportunities including over a dozen clubs, competitive athletics, robotics and Wednesday after school master classes in the arts. We are proud to have a staff that reflect our values and instruct with passion, lead with compassion, nurture personal accountability and strive to support every student in reaching their full potential. Clifton continues to build a culture that embraces inclusion, equity, rigor and academic excellence.
