I consider it a privilege to serve the community I grew up in as Principal of Clifton. The 2019-20 school year proved to be one we would have never predicted and here we are in 2021 providing distance learning to our Cubs, learning new things every day, and holding onto to hope when we will return to campus again. This is my tenth year serving in this position and I could not be prouder of the work we have accomplished in the past decade. We have an amazing team of dedicated and committed professionals to prepare your child for high school and all of the opportunities that may follow. Our continued focus will include an emphasis on a robust academic program with an emphasis on student collaboration, digital citizenship, service, and student advocacy. Behavior expectations will be taught and rewarded as part of this process using our Cub Cash token economy. In addition, a school-wide approach to writing critically with evidence is a component of every core department, called C.U.B writing. Finally, we are committed to providing your child a wealth of opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom to help them find their niche and increase their connectivity to school through leadership, athletics, and performing arts. While all of this is different in distance learning, we have many opportunities to connect in more ways beyond the classroom including our Monday seminar class focused on social/emotional learning.
The success of every child involves the partnership between the school community and families. My hope is for all parents to partner in their child’s school experience and to get involved. Monitoring activities through social networking activities such as Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and other means of online communication is more crucial than ever. Understanding the implications of your child’s digital footprint is critical for opportunities that lie ahead in college and the work force.
I look forward to meeting you and returning to normal. Please know my virtual door is always open to you and I highly encourage you to build relationships with our Clifton team to strengthen the home to school partnership. We are just a phone call or email away!
